The Blame Game

The Story . . .
He was like just another guy on the campus. He loved bikes and designing one himself was what he lived for. It was around when he entered college that he realized he was a little different. He was what other people called ‘not normal’, ‘not straight’.
Jokes on people like him were flying around everywhere – in movies, award shows and among his friends. Every time there was a gay joke cracked, he would smile. He would laugh. But every single second he laughed, it was killing him inside. He thought, in being what he was, he was wrong. He was ashamed of that part of him. He began hating himself for what he was.
Not knowing what to do, he killed himself.

My Memories...

Of beggars and exploitation....
1. People who give some money to beggars....always. But they are really few.(me included)
2. People who dont give them money, but are willing to buy them some food.
3. People who'll do nothing for beggars and say that beggars exploit us.
The first time I noticed this was when I saw an old lady asking for some money in Lajpat Nagar. I fished out a 5 rupee coin from my pocket and gave it to her. The teacher who happened to be with me called me and said this to me - "See, you are a mature girl. You should be careful of these people. You cannot give your money to these people. They loot you. They exploit you. Understood?" I was flabbergasted. All I could do was to murmur a 'Yes Ma'm'.
What she said sent my brain into a tizzy. These apparent 'words of wisdom' had defied all what my parents had taught me about helping people and all sense of logic which I had in me. How could a weak old woman who probably hasn't eaten anything for days 'exploit' me?
When I posed this question to some of friends, the most common answers I got were "Beggars aren't really poor. They have so much money with them. They beg because they are cheaters" or "Beggars should not be given money as they are lazy and do not want to work and earn money."
Yeah right. Beggars are so rich that they could even beat the Ambanis in the Fortune 500 list(sarcasm intented). Think sense people. Haven't you heard of unemployment in this country? Its not that they don't want to work. They dont have any work. Even if they are feigning a handicap or making up stories about dead mother, we must realize that it is their ccircumstances which force them to do this.
The entire point of this post is to tell all people who fall in the third category that don't camouflage your stinginess with overdone morals or philosophy. Change your attitude. Help people. If you don't want to help, then don't stop others from doing it. And remember, It is only because of attitudes like yours that we still have people in this world dying of poverty.

Le Titre
This is me. :D Rather this is a rather nice hazy reflection of me on the lcd tv.
The other side of me.... :P - my face reflected on the mobile screen and my back reflected on the mirror behind me, reflected on the mobile screen. :)
This picture is so full of me. Cant see me? All those things kept there a things which i like, things which are close to me - they are pretty much a reflection of what i am. Btw, the silhoutte of someone on the glass is me.

Pakistan attacked ..... again
Honestly, this didnt shock me one bit. It was to happen some day. Our neighboring country is at WAR. Rather, its always been in a state of war except maybe for a period of relative calm during the tenure of Musharaf. And a warring country is definitely not the best place to go and play cicket. Lets be happy that our BCCI babus had the brains to drop the Indian tour to Pakistan inspite of being accused of dampening the apparently warm relations with our neighbour.
What should top the list of the Pakistani government is to fight the war and win - with or without help from outside(read US), not cricket or promotion of bollywood movies or even democracy for now. And yes, stop calling acts of terror 'cowardly acts'. They are not. And calling them coward is not really gonna demoralize them cuz they aren't doing this to win your bravery medals. They do this to kill people. And they are doing it *ahem* pretty well. If you can do something do this - fight the war, restore temporary control over the rougher Northwestern tribal areas and educate your people.Elevate them from the abject poverty they live in now. This war can never be won on the might of the bombs and Kalashkinovs alone. Give your people a better life. When people have food to eat, a roof over their heads, books to read, work to do 'jihad will definitely seem less lucrative than it does now.
Offer them a future that is bright enough for the scores of young people of your country to choose life over death. Peace will come only when progress will come and progress is possible only when we have peace.

Babies of Brothels
We complain of our kids getting affected by the violence they see on cartoon network in the comfort of their homes and under the constant attention of their ever doting parents. But we never think about how much their children might be affected by all the 'things' going around them. Too young to understand any of it, they probably do get a sense that every night when their mothers go into the room with a new 'uncle' its something not very good happening. The world of drugs, drinks, lies and deceit becomes a part of them. And the cycle goes on forever. Generations of teenaged girls are forced into prostitution - forced to sell what a girl holds most valuable to herself.
I dont know what we can do to help them or to get them a dignity in the society. But I do know that something has to be done.
Ending on a rather strange note for now...

The Teenage Problem
Sample this
Q You feel committing sucide when you...
a)Get less marks
b)Get scolding from teacher
c)Get scolding from parents
And
Q Do you talk to your bf/gf when you are alone at home?
a) yes
b) no
Of course some of these questions make perfect comic material. But somehwere this also points something really bad.
Does the Society as a whole think of teenagers as dim witted half kids half adults who are driven into mood swings and sucidal tendencies by the slightest of triggers? Are teenagers just supposed to have crushes, smoke and drink? Is breaking rules, disrespecting authority and being a good for nothing rebel all what we can do?
Maybe I am a little out of my mind right now. But these questionnaires do get me depressed.

Advice
You are ignorant. I never made fun of your ignorance. Then why do you make fun of other people's awareness? Learn to respect knowledge cuz you don't have it.
:|
Enlightened ....
I realized that in most cases, the problem was within them, not me.
Another thing i realized is that i am a 'good girl'. I care for half the planet. I am not cool. At least not the way everyone thinks. And that I must be me.
I realized things like exams, being the topper, being loved by everyone have no meaning. These are way too inconsequential things.
I believe that life gets its meaning only when you can make a change for the better in the lives of other people.
No, I am not writing an essay on humanity. These things are true. And there will be a time when all of us realize this. Just that it gets a little late sometimes...

Oye Lucky Lucky Oye - My take
Lemme do the review taking one aspect at time.
Abhay 'hatke' Deol - A great actor. Hes definitely got the best acting skills among the 3 brothers. He makes Lucky lovable. Hes got everything right about the character - from the 'mercdee' to the way he walked n talked. You'll love his wit and his dimples. This guy has sure earned himself another fan.
Paresh Raval - I still cant figure out the reason for his triple role. But he did his bit well. This was perhaps his best this year...Way better than Mere Baap Pehle Aap.
The Director - He has done his homework well. Having stayed in delhi for quite some time, I could relate to most things shown in the movie. Like for instance the Highway farmhouse weddings and the drunk son of a minister creating trouble.
The Music - Its perfect. Fits just Right in the movie. Feels like a part of the movie and not a mere addition to it.
The script - Great. Most characters have the depth required. Apart from telling the story of Lucky, The film also has subtle mockeries at Hindi news channels and Delhi Police. The script keeps you hooked on till the end.
But this movie will be termed 'boring' by the masses. There are quite some reasons for it. First: the humour is subtle. There is no 'look-this-is-a-joke-laugh-at-it' humour or the priyadarshan inspired tom-n-jerry sequences which makes the movie devoid of humour for the 'aam aadmi' Second: To understand a lot of things in the movie you need to be a lil familiar with Delhi and its people. Third: The punjabi accent makes a lot of dialouges uncomprehendable for a lot of people.
I am not calling these flaws because these happen to be the very things which make me like this movie.
I would give the movie a 5/5 for Abhay's Acting, Dibakers Direction and the Superb Script. (notice the alliteration :P)
